Gates And Edible Computers.

Wow has it been a while? Sorry, I have been working on another work related blog....

But what should I kick this ever-so-late blog post off with? How about a little Seinfeld and Gates. Yeah, I know, this commercial makes absolutely no sense. But, maybe it does? I mean, with all the crap going on with Vista, Microsoft wanted to get their name out their with no mention of it. This commercial does that, and gives Microsoft a new fresh appeal, with some Gate's booty shaking. Who doesn't like a guy who can make fun of himself.

So, I understand the critics, the ad is confusing, but I think works well. It gets people talking, it reintroduces Microsoft, it has the recently retired CEO and one of our top comedians... and gets friggin' people to talk about it.  And what I wouldn't give to live in a world where my computer was a delicious morsel.

Sex Sells.

They say sex sells. Brief nudity and sweaty bodies in commercials will help sell anything. Well, you make that call after watching this ad for the Automotive Association of Norway.

Ground Zero Is Like The Flash.

I was out of the office when it went down. But, it is true, the Red Sox's Manny Rimerez was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. This doesn't really effect me (besides the fact one of the partners is an insane Boston fan... I say that in the most loving way) but I loved what Ground Zero' guerilla campaign following the news. If you happened to be doing your laundry in Los Angeles County, when opening your washer you would find a red sock. What did this sock say, "Lose a sock Boston?"

That's pretty good. Ground Zero is like The Flash (a super hero, who was, well, fast) because this news was announced Thursday and these socks appeared in every laundry mat by noon, Friday. That's some quick work. Finding that many red socks? I can't even match my laundry socks, and I have my own machine, and only 10 pairs of socks. Adfreak

Did You Get A Visit From The DUI Bunny?

I don't know if you have ever visted Radaronline, but it is a online magazine, giving you pop and politics updates and articles. Let's just say there is a lot of celebrity gossip/ bashing. Their agency Walrus NYC  has created some pretty funny ads for Radar. Basically they sum up any stereotype of why celebrities make news... for example: DUIs.

The JCPenney Breakfast Club.

I have a serious problem with the new JCPenney commercial. It is a back to school commercial with teens that are acting out scenes from The Breakfast Club. Ummmm, that movie came out in 1985. Does the agency who made this commercial know who they are targeting? These kids in the commercial weren't born for another 5 years after The Breakfast Club. I guess I am missing the point. But, every time I see this ad, I always think, "Do they really think the demo they are targeting will understand this commercial?" Who knows. It is a great commercial, if you were a child of the 80's.

Free Brain Freeze... I Mean Slurpee.

Yes, it is 7/11... and what does that mean? Free Slurpee Day! Stop by any 7-Eleven and get yourself a free 7.11 oz Slurpee.... which isn't that big, but hey, it's free!!!

Just do it! And get pomegranate flavor. It is bomb.

Tennis Rackets And Green Thumbs.

Looks like the grass is greener at Wimbeldon this year. Artists Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey created these pieces of art using, well, grass. They took photographs of, Tara Moore who competed in the tournament, Eddie Seaward, a 15 year veteran groundsman at Wimbledon, and Coach Lizzie May is part of the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative and began their three week creation.

"Back in the studio the artists develop the photos in a very similar way to printing in a darkroom. Large panels are seeded with grass and the images are projected on to them as negatives. The areas that get more light allow the grass to produce more chlorophyll and darken. It took about a week for projecting the image for 12 hours a day to complete the Wimbledon work."

Pretty amazing, huh? I plan to do them same and have a potrait of myself on my apartment balcony. My only problem being that I kill any plant I touch. marktd

If you don't have Showtime there is a great show you are missing, Dexter. Actually the PG version is shown on CBS, but it does not do the series justice. What is also so great about Dexter, is the amazing viral campaign created to promote season 2. None other than the UK's Ralph has done so.

I Like Star Wars, So Kill Me.

How many 25 year old ladies enjoy some popcorn and a night of Star Wars? Not many. But I am one of them. No, I do not have a unibrow and I am not one of these people!

So how delightfully happy am I to know that Spike TV is going to be playing Star Wars?  Well, pretty happy. I have to say, I love those Ewoks, especially The Ewok Adventure which would not have been created if it weren't for Star Wars!

Spike TV has created some humourous ads to promote Star Wars on their network. Below is my favorite. This is why you never want to have Darth Vader as a golf partner. At least don't bet against him on any holes.
