Sorry I haven't posted an article today.  Especially with so many exciting things like talking sandwiches and tricked out airport vehicles, I am not posting!  But, I have an excuse.... Mariner's Opening Day!!!

I will be at Safeco in just a few short hours for opening day.  I have never been, and am sad I have to cut it short because I am am still moving out of my box of a studio apartment.  But, nevertheless I am going for my first time.  Go Mariner's! (I promise to be good tomorrow and post, but I had to work so i could go to the game!)

World Wildlife Fund has this great new site where you can purchase a tree for only $5.50 and watch it grow.  If you head to my baby tree, $5.50 will allow you to purchase a tree, as well as the nursery costs, maintenance and final transplantation of your tree.  After the tree is transplanted, you will receive an email allowing you to watch your tree grow with the help of Google earth.  How cool is that?  Normally you just purchase a tree and forget about it.  WWF is giving you a chance to pinpoint your very own baby tree in the Forrest of Borneo.  It is a way to really engage those who want to help the environment. I suggest you get one, I know I will!

Favorite Seattle Commercial Jingles.

There are some real commercial gems out there if you happen to be watching TV in Seattle.  These ads have jingles that are always in my head.  And every time I begin to sing one in my office, everyone can sing along.  Our first gem is the Tulalip Casino ad.  Yeah, that is a Beach Boys tune and they are at Pike's Place Market.  If I had a fish thrown at me, I would definitely gamble all my money away at a seedy casino.   After the jump, watch Pierre Money Mart, and the second guy in the Money Mart ad was in my high school graduating class.  Go Falcons!

Hot SI Covers from 1978

I'm not sure if you've heard about it, but there has been some controversary regarding the Lebron, Giesele cover of Vogue.  According to Fox Sports, King James looks like King Kong clutching Fay Wray on the latest cover of Vogue, and the image, according to potential handbook writers, "conjures up this idea of a dangerous black man."

I think the cover is pretty bad, but not racist...but what do I know. Anyways, Gawker has put together some pretty sexy covers from 1978.

Seattle celebrates the greens this weekend (and no not Hempfest) with Vegfest at the Seattle Center. From samples to cooking demonstrations  to the opportunity to listen to local dietitians, there is bundles of fun to be had.  AloeCure will also be handling out samples of their miracle worker aloe juice which relieves acid reflux, so here's your change to get your stomach in check as well. Find The Wendy's Closest To Your Bar.

Does your stomach begin to growl while choosing Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi on the jukebox while at the bar?  Well, Wendy's has just the ticket to cure those late night munchies.  While you pick that song, your juke box will display an ad that morphs into a micro-site, This site will show you where the nearest Wendy's is. Of course, it will only be for jukeboxes in bars that are within a mile radius of Wendy's.

This new concept is the work of MediaVest, a full service media specialist company. They are looking to reach the young, drunk, and hungry (which tend to be young males.)  I think it is great that Wendy's (or let's say Wendy's ad agencies) are looking into new ways to reach their core demographic, 18-34 year old men.  This is truly stepping out of the bubble trying to snag them.  Let's see if they can pull it off.  Source AdAge.

Apparently Oatmeal Gives You Noxious Breath.

Thanks to Adverblog, I was able to test my breath today on Scope's Microsite, Test Your Breath. This site allows you to test you breath by breathing into your computer's microphone or typing in your last meal.  I just ate oatmeal, which I expected to be pretty low on a scale of bad breath, considering I did not eat onions or garlic in my oatmeal.  But, apparently I am wrong and my breath caused an alien living in some guys head to commit suicide which was pretty disturbing (just go to the site and do it.) I can't imagine what the alien would do if I had halitosis.

This alien is not the alien on the Scope site, but has been known to pop out of people.

My Fav. Seattle Artist Right Now.

Lately, my goal is to go out and explore Seattle.  Last Saturday, me and the boy went about Fremont and stopped by a frame shop.  There I discovered my new favorite artist, who happens to be a local. Juli Adams has some offbeat contemporary oil and water color paintings, and I dig that. She was born and raised in Seattle and went to school at Evergreen in Olympia. Below is my favorite piece, "Hours before the party."   Buy her stuff at Lady Nin's.  But, if you are a close friend of mine, you can't buy this piece. I claim it mine and we can't have matching apartment art.
